(Formerly CPR Level HCP – Health Care Provider)
The Basic Life Support (BLS) course, formerly known as CPR Level HCP (Health Care Provider), is a specialized training program designed for healthcare professionals and in-facility responders who are required to perform high-quality CPR and coordinated life-saving interventions in team-based environments.
As of January 2019, the Canadian Red Cross replaced the HCP course with Basic Life Support (BLS) to reflect updated medical practices, terminology, and resuscitation science. BLS provides a more accurate and current approach to professional-level CPR training.
Course Overview
This Canadian Red Cross BLS certification course focuses on rapid assessment, high-performance CPR, team communication, and early defibrillation using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
Unlike general public CPR or first aid courses, BLS is designed for professional responders who must deliver care efficiently within a clinical or institutional setting.
This is a stand-alone course and is not bundled with Standard First Aid public classes. If both Standard First Aid and BLS certification are required, private group training can be arranged.
Private Group Training:
If you require Standard First Aid and BLS together, please request a private group session.
Minimum group size: 8 participants, maximum group size is 12 participants.
