The Red Cross Standard First Aid & CPR Level C/AED course is a comprehensive, two-day first aid training program designed for individuals who require certification for the workplace or want to learn skills to confidently respond to emergencies at home or in their community.

This course covers essential first aid, CPR, and AED training using the latest Canadian Red Cross guidelines, additionally meeting the federal and provincial workplace safety requirements across Ontario. Participants gain skills through hands-on, practical training that prepares them to respond effectively to real-life medical emergencies.

Course Overview

This Standard First Aid & CPR/AED certification course includes advanced first aid knowledge and life-saving techniques such as CPR, choking response, and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

Training follows current Canadian Red Cross First Aid & CPR guidelines and is recognized by:

Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB)
Canadian Standards Association (CSA)
Ontario Health & Safety (OHS) regulations
Employers, schools, and regulatory bodies across Canada

As part of the course, participants receive:

Canadian Red Cross First Aid & CPR Digital Learner’s Guide
Official Canadian Red Cross certification (valid for 3 years)

First Aid 4U also incorporates injury prevention education, helping learners reduce risks before emergencies occur.

Training Formats

Blended First Aid Format

In-Person First Aid Format

Online access will be delivered by email with a link to the course content from the Red Cross. The link will be supplied 1–2 business days after registration.

The online portion (~6 hours) must be completed prior to your in-class session.

The online training cannot be completed more than 6 weeks before your in-class date.

Important Notes

If the online portion is not completed before class, participants will not be eligible to attend. No refunds or transfers apply once online access has been issued.

Rescheduling must occur more than 7 days prior to the course date. A $25.00 + HST administrative fee applies.

Bring proof of online completion (printed or digital certificate).

Standard First Aid is a comprehensive two-day in-person course covering breathing emergencies, cardiovascular emergencies, injuries, environmental emergencies, and medical conditions.

Includes CPR Level C and AED certification.

Meets provincial workplace safety requirements.

Important Notes

Participants must attend both full training days to receive certification.

Certification is typically valid for 3 years.

Arrive 10–15 minutes early and dress comfortably for practical skills training.

Standard First Aid Certification Training Course Content

This Canadian Red Cross Standard First Aid training includes both theory and hands-on skills practice:

Preparing to respond to emergencies
The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) system
Check, Call, Care approach
Airway emergencies and choking
Breathing and circulation emergencies
CPR for adults, children, and infants
Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
First aid for respiratory and cardiac arrest
Wound care and bleeding control
Head, neck, and spinal injuries
Bone, muscle, and joint injuries
Sudden medical emergencies (e.g., heart attack, stroke, diabetic emergencies)
Environmental emergencies (heat, cold, drowning)
Poisoning and exposure emergencies

Certification & Assessment

To receive certification, participants must:

Actively participate in all course components
Successfully demonstrate required first aid and CPR skills
Complete a written knowledge evaluation
- Minimum passing grade: 75%

Upon successful completion, participants earn a Digital Canadian Red Cross Standard First Aid & CPR Level C/AED certificate within 3 days of course completion, valid for three years. Temporary certificates are issued immediately following the course.

I attended the emergency first aid/ cpr course at 8300 woodbine, markham today. I have been to other first aid courses a few years back but never benefited like this one. The instructor Arash was very knowledgeable in the medical field and was able to explain things very detailed and in a very interesting way . Food for thought- I think it would be a great help to all if you include the small first aid kit in the course for a few bucks more and maybe add aspirin in it as it saves lives.

The Standard First Aid & CPR level C refresher I completed at 700 Industrial Avenue was absolutely excellent. I have enrolled in a large number of similar courses over the years and many have been delivered in a dry, canned, and methodical manner. This course, though, was anything but. Outstanding instructor, Hawley Lepine. After attending first aid courses many times over the years, this was the first time when I (and everyone else attending the course) was riveted and you could hear a pin drop when the instructor spoke. He underscored important points in the course by peppering it with vivid real life suspenseful first aid stories, and a healthy dose of humour. Students were coached closely in the practical portion of the course to ensure they were successful. for e.g. application of CPR & AED, as well as splints and slings. Highly recommend this instructor and hope he is available when I am required to take my refresher.

Our instructor, Hawley, was very personable, and easy to follow. He often gave examples of real-life scenarios that he’s found himself in, or situations in which our training could play out in the real world. Our class was really interactive. I took First Aid & CPR/AED Level C many years ago, around 2010, and aside from the gap in time/evolving knowledge, I learned more about the same topics now than I did back then! WOW!! So worth the money, time and effort!! I had David Smith aka “Smitty” as my instructor at Ottawa East and he made a content heavy 8 hour day so much more exciting, engaging and hands on!! The course was very easy to understand and learn. The instructor, Catherine, was a great teacher and made lessons very engaging with video lessons, explanations, and live demonstrations. Additionally, we were provided with all the necessary materials we needed in order to practice our newly acquired skills and abilities. My daughter and I just finished our first aid course with Rayani.
I just wanted to let you know that this was the best first aid course I’ve ever taken. I have taken at least six other first aid courses in the pass once from your school five or six years ago, and he is absolutely the best instructor I’ve ever had. He’s very engaging, he’s very supportive. He’s very helpful. He’s very friendly by the end of the course I felt like all the other students were my friends. He listen to our stories he supported us. He complimented us. It was not a horrible experience.
I just wanted to say thank you from myself and my daughter.

Fantastic training from Rayan Afsar! It was my second time having a class with this trainer and it was great both times. Rayan is very informative while also connecting with anecdotes and jokes to keep the class engaged. Mageb, who taught us in Vaughan, in Apr. 2023, did a great job teaching us. Being a trained physician in his home country came through by exhibiting his professional knowledge. However, he also did it in a light, almost entertaining manner which made the educational experience less cumbersome.

Ashraf was a great instructor who was serious yet personable in his delivery of the practical component of my blended First-Aid/CPR/AED course. I ended up needing to put my training to use just days after having completed the course and was able to act quickly and effectively to assist an injured colleague.
While the entities aren't directly related, my only complaint about the program has been the finicky/temperamental Red Cross website. Accessing certifications, course information and profile details has been - at best - annoying.

I have been taking first aid courses at different places in Ottawa over the past 12 years and by far First Aid 4 U is the best. The teaching technique, and the way the information is given makes the course really enjoyable. The stories and real life experience shared during the course helped me retain most of the information taught. The Brampton instructor is the best. He makes learning fun and easy. If you listen to the instructor (which is his #1 rule) you will pass with flying colours. Thank you Aurangzeb you were GREAT!
My only issues are they need to invest in a Bluetooth speaker as the laptop volume isn't loud enough and a bigger tv would be nice.

In class portion:
- Good instructor.
- It would be better if the TV was the appropriate size to see the presentation, or if used a projector allowing a wide screen.

Online portion:
- Well designed.
- It would be better if it provide a summary of main points for each chapter allowing the student a quick refresh about them.

The course and instructor were good. After the course was completed I’ve started to receive emails stating that they hadn’t received my payment. I contacted them, clarified that they had my payment, and received by email, a copy of the invoice indicating that it was paid in full. Since, I receive an email monthly stating I still haven’t paid, each to which I reply with the receipt, marked “paid”, attached. It is impossible to speak with a person when you call in. It goes to voicemail every time. Disorganized, and to be honest, the emails are rude, stating how it’s problematic that I haven’t paid them, and that it’s an urgent matter. If I had rated immediately after taking the course, it would have been 4-5 stars, but based on the nonsense that has followed, I just can’t. Sorry everyone….get it together.
